How to Choose Best Baby Oil for Massage?

In various scientific studies and Ayurveda, it is suggested that moderate massage of baby helps to enhance the body growth in natural manner. Baby massage provide the pleasant and enjoyable bonding between mother and child. The touching sense of parent’s works as a healing and soothing power for baby and helps into increase the immunity, growth, blood circulation and digestion. Moreover, it helps to provide baby a calm and sound sleep. Baby massage is a traditional ritual that introduced in baby regime for overall growth. Traditionally, multiple oils are used for baby massage such as pure ghee, Almond oil, coconut oil, sesame oil (till tail), etc. Selection of right baby oil can easily multiply the benefits of baby massage. So, while choosing baby massage oil, follow these easy steps:

  • Check ingredients: Before choosing baby massage oil, first thing to check is its ingredients. Take a look at ingredients and ensure that there is no harmful chemical or preservative added in the oil. It is advised to use ayurvedic massage oil as they have herbs as their active ingredients.
  • Mineral oil: Don’t use mineral oil on babies’ soft skin, as it can cause clogging, in these clogging bacteria’s are trapped which can cause infections. Mineral oil is petroleum based products which are not beneficial for baby’s skin. Many cosmetics product for baby has mineral oil, so it is better to avoid these products for little wonder.
  • Essential oils: Most of the essential oils are synthesized by using chemically pathways. These are also petroleum based products. It can affect the learning power and growth of baby.
  • Fragrance: Products containing strong fragrance can cause contradictions in baby’s health. So, opt for products with mild fragrances or no fragrance. On the other side herbs used in ayurvedic products has some fragrance, so be cautious while buying massage oil.
  • Seed and nut oils: Seed oils can be used to massage baby. But it may cause some types of allergic reactions on baby’s skin. So, keep check on baby’s skin after usage of seed or nut oil.
  • Oleic oil: if your baby has dry or sensitive skin then don’t use oil with extra oleic acid such as olive oil or sunflower oil.
  • Non-edible oil: Don’t use oil which are non-edible in nature. As during massage time, oil can enter in baby’s mouth. So, prefer using edible oils.
  • Parabens: Most of the massage oils contain parabens that can cause harm to the body. Recent studies shows that parabens can interfere into body’s endocrine system, which is responsible for regulation of hormones. In children it can cause development disorder and dysfunction of immune system.

Oil for Baby Massage:
